Market News: Office Leasing Trends affecting Pittsburgh
According to the latest news, the "flight-to-quality" trend in office leasing is persisting, with companies flocking to top-tier office spaces as they start feeling more confident in their real estate decisions. This also means that more demand for prime locations could spark construction activity this year. With limited availability and high demand, it's clear that premium office space is still the hottest commodity. Why does this matter to you?
If you're in the market for a new home or looking to build, these tariff increases could directly impact your costs. If you're a current homeowner, this could also affect your home’s value as the cost of new builds rises, potentially reducing buyer demand and making it harder to sell your home in the future. For renters, it could lead to a rise in rental prices as builders and developers pass along these increased costs. Either way, these tariffs are likely to make the already difficult housing market even more challenging.
With an already strained housing market and fewer homes on the market, any additional cost hikes could further slow down the process of increasing inventory. And as builders are stuck with higher construction costs, expect those prices to be passed on to consumers. The bottom line: You could see your next home price tag jump higher—again.

Mortgage Rates Update: A Rollercoaster Week
It’s been a wild week for mortgage rates! After a jump earlier in the week following the CPI inflation data, things reversed quickly thanks to the Producer Price Index (PPI), which pointed to lower inflation ahead. Today, Retail Sales data came in much weaker than expected, giving rates another push lower. The result? The lowest 30-year fixed rates we've seen in nearly two months!
With bond markets closing on Monday for the holiday, keep an eye on next week’s movement. It’s been an interesting ride, but lower rates are always a good sign if you're looking to make a move!
And that’s a wrap for this week’s edition! Whether you’re checking out a standout property, grabbing a slice at the best pizzerias in Pittsburgh, or taking part in one of the exciting events this weekend, there’s no shortage of things to keep you busy. Be sure to stay on top of the latest market trends, and keep an eye on the mortgage news—changes are always around the corner. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day, and I’ll see you next week with more updates, insights, and fun things to check out in Pittsburgh!
